Make kids are a bit wild. Is there a way to make them stay still for holiday pictures?

Dear Sally,
You can do what my Father used to do. When we wouldn't stay still he would lean in with a mean look and tell us, "whoever moves will be eaten by the rest of the family for Christmas dinner." Then when we looked scared, he would say, "who needs a smile beaten onto them?" And then we would smile. Problem solved. It works on elderly folks too.
